Sign Language Class Schedules
EPCDHH is offering Sign Language Classes primarily on American Sign Language (ASL). There will be two different levels of ASL Classes.

Course Description:
This course provides an introduction to ASL.  It includes principles of manual communication through non-verbal communication techniques, eye training, introduction to fingerspelling, and basic pattern of sign language. This course is designed for those new to sign language or who need a review of the basics.  No pre-requisites.

Course Objective:
The Student who successfully completes this course will know the history of sign language, know the causes and effects of deafness on an individual; have fingerspelling skills; have a basic sign language vocabulary; be able to use facial expressions and gestures as a form of communication
 
Rationale:
It is imperative to be able to communicate with deaf people.  With more than 6,000 deaf citizen in El Paso, you will occasionally come in contact with some of them.  Sign Language will help you communicate with deaf people when the need arises.
