5. THE STUDENT KNOWS THAT GRAPHS AND STATISTICAL METHODS ARE TOOLS FOR IDENTIFYING PATTERNS IN DATA:
5.a. The sixth-grade student selects appropriate presentations to display patterns in a set of information, calculates simple statistics for the data set and measures central tendency.
7. THE STUDENT KNOWS THAT COMPLEX INTERACTIONS, IN BOTH BIOTIC AND ABIOTIC SYSTEMS, OCCUR BETWEEN MATTER AND ENERGY.
7.c. The eighth-grade student conducts scientific inquiries, using appropriate references, tools and techniques, to identify the specific interactions between biotic and biotic systems, between abiotic and abiotic systems, and between biotic and abiotic systems including transportations systems, eco-systems, human-body systems, and solar systems.
C. ORGANISMS (LIVING THINGS) HAVE VARYING NEEDS FOR SURVIVAL. THE STUDENT UNDERSTANDS THAT THERE ARE BASIC NEEDS FOR LIFE
8. THE STUDENT KNOWS THAT THERE ARE SUBSTANCES NECESSARY TO SUSTAIN LIFE, INCLUDING WATER, NUTRIENTS, SHELTER, AIR, LIGHT, HEAT, STRUCTURES, PROPERTIES OF MATTER AND PROCESSES SUCH AS REPRODUCTION AND THE ELIMINATION OF WASTE.
