Owls and the C.D.W.R.A variety of owls inhabit the Chihuahuan Desert and frequently become clients of C.D.W.R. These spectacular birds are very beneficial and do a great deal to control rodent populations. Unfortunately, these harmless animals are often feared and are the subject of superstition in many cultures. As a result, they often face persecution and injury at the hands of uninformed humans. Some of their injuries are caused by humans, others are accidental. Unless the animals are beyond rehabilitation, they are released back to their natural habitat as soon as medically possible.![]() Two recent patients of the C.D.W.R. - a Great Horned Owl and a Barn Owl.
