Bassett Middle School
Dress
Code
It
is the intention of the Basset Middle School faculty, administration, PTA,
CIT committee, and uniform committee to inform parents and students of
the uniform requirements for the 1999-2000 school year so that they may
shop appropriately in the summer and be prepared for a successful
school year beginning in August, 1999. The Bassett Middle School
Uniform Policy for the 1999-2000 school year will be as follows:
Tops:
Boys
and girls will wear crew neck T-shirts or 3-button polo shirts, long or
short sleeved, with a Bassett logo. Stretch knits, cropped shirts,
or tank top shirts will not be allowed. Colors will be white, gold,
maroon, or ash gray. For winter, or in cooler weather, sweatshirts
will be allowed only in the above colors, also with a Bassett logo.
ALL SHIRTS MUST BE WORN TUCKED IN AT ALL TIMES.
Bottoms:
Boys
and girls may wear only blue or black plain denim jeans. Jeans
must be plain (no stripes or oversized pockets) in slim, regular, or relaxed
fit only. They must be fitted at the waist and must be hemmed.
This means pants may be no larger than one inch more than a student's waist
size. It also means that sagging, oversized pants or frayed hems
will not be allowed.
Shorts
will also be allowed, also only in blue or black denim. The
length of the shorts will be no shorter than two inches above the knee,
and no longer than their kneecaps. Shorts must also be hemmed.
Jackets:
Jackets
will be defined as outerwear with a zippered front. Pullover jackets,
sweaters, flannel shirts, or college or professional team jackets will
not be allowed. Bassett logo jackets are available from our uniform
vendor, and are reasonably priced.
The
purpose of promoting a uniform policy at Bassett Middle School is to encourage
uniformity in dress and a Bassett identity that advocates self-respect,
improved academics, and pride in our school.
